Which formula gives the cost?

Cost = power (W) × hours per day × tariff (per kWh) / 1000. Dividing by 1000 converts watts to kilowatts.

Where do I find an appliance's power?

On the rating plate or in the manual. Appliances with a thermostat (a fridge, a heater) do not run all the time, so enter the average hours per day they are actually on.

Why is a month 30 days?

It is a convenient round figure; a year is 365 days. For an exact bill multiply the daily cost by the number of days you need.
